Ooooowww thats gut wrenching. You just know there is beauty underneath though. I think you should just send it on to me Rudey its too far gone, non recoverable, horrid.
No just joking, having one of these in any state and your very fortunate, I'm sure she can be saved. Its a beautiful project that'll be immensely satisfying to restore.

This could be a pretty good BB, I think the worst issue will be scratches as rust shouldn't be a problem. Rust in grills can be a pain but, after removing all the loose material, I apply a rust inhibitor that I bought for my garden tools: brush on then wipe with a cloth when dry. Any remaining rust is 'firmed up' and sealed to protect from further rusting in preparation for painting. It's not expensive and works a treat. 
I've just done a MX-720 which is the Sanyo I prefer. Sanyos are always a bit fiddly and I'll get round to the 920 eventually, at least it powers up. I already have a working one anyway.
Are you kidding?? With all that shiny metal trim on the 920, 95% of the 920s I've seen look as bad as yours or worse!
That will clean up ok especially after a grill repaint. I'd be happy to have it working right as most I've seen have had tricky faults to fix like dead channels and tuners.

It is scratched up. However the middle section is decent.
If it was missing anything then I would say 'parts box' but we'll see how it cleans up.
The chewed foot is annoying.

yes the inside of these is a nightmare of cables
the type that just seem to be there to confuse you
Ive had a few and they always scare me
even after you get the mech out to test and replace the belts
you have to put it all back again to test
and i have never had a simple ah it just needs belts with this one
