It's been over 6 months since Obama took office. He obviously has very strong views about the future of the country. What do you think at this point in time?

Dangerous topic Jovie. :grim:

We are all buds on the boombox level but politically we most certainly have varying views from all points of view. Nothing can heat up as quickly as Political debates, views and comments. I love all my boombox brothers and don't really want to get into a political debate, usually only bad things will happen in this case.

Rating him on your scale is fine but the inevitable comments will likely polarize the topic.

I'm just scared at how much he's spending.
I don't know enough about the proposed health care plan to make a statement.
So-I'll just say that one thing that I believe is true.
No more opinions from me-GB. :hmmm:

:agree: with MasterBlaster84. Since we all have different life experiences, this one could cause some friction...

Please, I already hate my neighbors and most of my co-workers, not you guys too!

But seriously, we have got to get back to MAKING MORE PRODUCTS in this country. That is really the only opinion I care to share.

We should start by making a new RC-M90...

How do you go about finding American made products that we need or want like electronics? :hmmm:

My Nissan Altima was made in Smyrna, TN. Does that count?

Sure it does. It's better than nothing. I'm sure some of the parts are from the US (look at the door sticker for "Domestic Content").

...also I'm going to have a hard time dissing Nissan. Because I really like Nissan! :smooch:

That's a hard, if not a sometimes impossible one. :-/

I think what we have to do first is let a manufacture know we willing to pay a little more for a domestic product. Hopefully, when new products are produced in the future, the manufacturer considers making them here.

A recent example: My power went out for 13.5 hours this weekend due to a storm. :annoyed: I was considering getting a generator before, but am REALLY considering it now. My area always looses power at least once in the summer and sometimes in the winter.

I could buy a "Made in China" generator for $350. Or, I could by a "Made in America" generator for about twice that. I'll probably buy the "Made in America" one, even though it's not significantly more powerful. Since I've been saving for it anyway, I won't feel the extra cost too much.

You mean Assembled in Smyrna, TN from parts manufactured in other countries right?
That's not as easy a question to answer as I thought it would be. Used to be, the % country-of-origin for vehicle content was listed on the window sticker. It's not on mine, so maybe such a breakdown isn't required anymore.

I did find this article helpful on discussing Nissan USA's OEM suppliers. Quite a few appear to be in North America:
http://www.purchasing.com/article/227358-Nissan_pushes_suppliers_on_quality.php

This paragraph in particular seems to be helpful in understanding Nissan USA's OEM supplier siutation:
Nissan uses about 380 suppliers in North America who provide systems and parts for the Altimas, Pathfinders and other vehicles the company builds at its Smyrna, Tenn. facility. Nissan’s total spend with direct suppliers in North America is about $9.5 billion annually. About 60% of its spend is with just 40 suppliers.

Though I could get into an extensive discussion on the topic,a simple head count is all I was expecting. I did this poll once before (at S2Go I believe) and will be doing it again periodically during the next 3 1/2 years.

An anonymous rating is harmless as long as a discussion doesn't follow, I would hate to see political arguments here. :nonono: :-)

I think the poll is a fair one. I don't care if you are a republican, democrat, independant or liberterian, or unaffiliated, there are issues that affect us all including economy, healthcare, spending, unemployment, representation of the constituency, growth and direction of government, immigration, environment, energy, foreign policy, etc. No one has to post any comments that give away their political inclinations -- all you have to do is vote and it's anonymous. NO COMMENTS ARE NECESSARY: Just your vote.

I'll look forward to more such polls Jovie and will be sure to participate again because I'm also curious to know what the current public sentiment is at any given point in time. Although our membership base here is not big, I believe it spans coast to coast and is represented by mostly down to earth working folks of all age groups. Just my 2 cents and hopefully, no politically inflammatory material here to ignite.

I know at times people would rather not discuss about politics, but this is the reason why we should.
We don't want to hear the reality so we shut it out. That only will increase our freedom being taken more and more from us!!!!

I feel bad for Obama he may have good intensions for America and for his two daughters.

It's just that we as American are not involve and thats why we don't always agree because we don't take time and analyze. Also big interest groups blinds us from the truth.

People argue about a Government run Healthcare well hello Medicaid and Medicare are government run programs, so far the elderly are very much content with their coverage.

I blame GREED for all this mess. period!

I can't believe that 35% vote for a terrible job on Obama, so I guess George Bush was better.
His administration dropped the ball at Wall Street the regulators from his Administration that were suppose to keep watch on the Credit Rating Agency such as Moodys, Standards and Poor etc... these agencies are the caused of all these junk loans that were rated AAA. Where were the Bush administration when this was happening.
