My father in law shot the hog on the property they own (where the wedding was) and my grandfather in law pit roasted it in the ground. It is an old Serbian tradition I'm told. It was pretty amazing watching him cut it up before he cooked it. He asked for a knife and no one had one handy so he pulled a penknife out of his pocket and went to town. "In Serbia we do with sharp rock", he said.
btw, dont mind the weird donkey pictures. They crashed the party! No idea who owned them, they just wandered off someone elses land on to ours. They have been coming back every day since to play in the pond and roll around in the dirt. Very strange.
