No sound from cassette

Hello guys, I hope I can find help here. I have an RX5150 in pretty good condition, it has good belts, the radio sounds amazing, and is even recording beautifully, but no sound when playing a cassette. All is there is the audio hiss, like it is a blank cassette. I've been checking it around without luck. Has this happened to anyone? I checked all connectors and switches with the service manual, and all appears to be fine. No idea of what could be happening. Please help.

Yes, after recording I play the cassette on another boombox and the recording is there, and it sounds fine.

It's most likely a function switch or a R/P switch oxidation issue. Panasonics are really bad about that. You need to clean those well and those switches are not easy to do that. The thing is that those switches are shrouded so it's very difficult for the cleaning solution to get into the internal contacts. Generally, you will need to position the boombox so that the fluid can enter one end of the switch while you operate it. Gravity should allow some of the fluid to travel down and hopefully help clean the contacts. I can't tell you how many times, a member has stated "I've already done that", but then later the result is that it actually just needed a more thorough cleaning.

Also, you should check to make sure that the RP trip lever is aligned and properly actuating the switch. If the lever or linkage is misaligned or came off, then the switch can be stuck in either the record or playback position. This could explain recording but during playback, you may not hear anything since it could be in record mode.
