So many of you know that my very first stereo Boombox I purchased as a teen in 83-84 was a Panasonic RX5010 from venture for $50 plus tax. I had to work a few weeks at newspaper stand to save up because I was only making $1/hr plus $1 bonus for each day I worked. When I first started collecting the very first Boombox I purchased was that same Panny. It was very clean and deck needed belt but I got it working 100%. I also told you how because of buying it for $58 including shipping my wife at the time pretty much ended our marriage. Beatch

Anyway I have seen two NIB ones since starting collecting and the first one fell through because price was to high and guy wouldnt go any lower than I think $200 and something... But Last week I found second one and guy lived in Illinois a couple hundred miles away. Well it's small so I made deal with him to have it shipped. Because it was in original box he bubble wrapped and put in secondary box and shipped... I received it today and This boomer was immaculate with no signs of use what so ever. All paperwork, plastic bag, styrofoam and box were included. Of course I took back off to clean inside and replace stretched belt but even the inside was clean. Tape head and pinch roller never used at all. To me this is one of those units put away in a closet just so I would get it one day.... Even though its not much of a box it is sentimental value to me

Check pics and difference between the new one and how used one I got 4 years ago looks. simply amazing what keeping units in plastic bag and box all these years can do as opposed to just sticking it in the basement or crawl ;-)

awesome , i love these smaller panasonic's . i think they are just about the best damn economy based models ever made .
they run forever on batteries sound decent and are fairly loud ,plus you can beat the hell out of them and they just keep on going .
the rx 5010 5025 5100 5110 and so on are just great everyday radio's.

Thanks guys. I didn't own my original one from 84 too long because I took it back to venture a month or so later to exchange for a bigger 3 pc Lenox Sound for about $30 more

Thanks guys  I'm pretty stoked about a new box that brings back so many memories. I remember I had to read a book for a class in school, which I hated reading. But I listened to my Panny while reading "The Outsiders" and loved it... Only book I truly read the whole thing and enjoyed it. Of course listening to music on my new Panny helped

I always liked Panny stuff, whehter it's a TV, walman, boomer, CD player, etc. They always built really rugged, long lasting units that delivered a quality experience without the grief of a poorly designed product. Great score!!! :-D :-D

Sweeeet dude!

It actually amazes me that being kept in plastic bags all those years doesn't induce premature rot/rust. Thanks for the pics!

Thanks again guys. I too still can't believe the difference. I always thought the other one I had was close to mint until getting this one

I am SO GLAD you got that box. No one, and I mean NO ONE would ever love that box like you do. I would absolutely DIE if I could get my meat hooks on one of those M70s in that type of condition/situation. (I would be poor too!)

And I can say the more M70s I have the better.

It's nice you have two of your babies now. GOOD TIMES!

Hi Bill, I love the classic look of the 5010! Both of your units look great but you can certainly tell which of the two has never seen the light of day and has been kept boxed up.  How do these sound? I never had one of these. My first so called boombox was a GE mono cassette boomer with a two way speaker and ni-cad rechargeable battery that I got for Christmas in 1982 from my parents. I forget the model number of it but it was a nice boombox. The rechargeable battery didn't last long in it before needing recharged. I was only 17 at the time and was glad to at least have that.
Great find Bill!

Nice Panny Bill  Did it still have that "new electric appliance smell" when you took it out of the original packaging :-D
