They have done what JVC didn't, made a kaboom with tweeters, Internal memory is handy but not enough.

Design wise I wish they had had something totally original, Pioneer seems to be trying to find it's identity after the plasma business colapsed.

$500 for a dressed up Kaboom? I applaud the effort but I'm not quite feeling it. :-/
I think the TDK effort was closer to what true boombox fans want.

I applaud their effort and it would help alot of dance crews and cheerleaders, etc. I dont like it for us classic style boombox collectors. I must admit that I like the options; Tempo Control: allowing dancers the ability to adjust the tempo of any track without changing the pitch
Dance Cue: Dancers can now set a cue point anywhere in a song to go back to effortlessly

Auto Battle Mode: Dance Crews and classes, big AND small, can create group or 1-on-1 battles on the spot, complete with countdown and voice prompts

DJ Mix: Seamlessly plays non-stop mixes by genre, complete with transition effects between tracks

Dance Boost: Emphasize instruments like the hi-hat and bass drum for a more pronounced beat and easier to hear. This is ideal for training or teaching when used at low volume levels or in noisy (outdoor) environments

8-Beat Skip: Allows dancers to skip forward and back by eight counts, a standard for choreography, with a push of a button. If Lasonic & TDK can add this on their new boomers for the same price, I get one of theirs. AND with a touch screen LCD display ;-)

The big one looks pretty cool.......way better than a Kaboom.
But the smaller ones look lame, and are overpriced. I mean come on, $349 for 4cm speakers and 2.5 watts per channel?

why won't these manufacturers get it?

We want boxes - TUFF MEAN ANGULAR BOXES - with power, functionality and a handle - oh and maybe a bit o'chrome

3 way drivers is nice though

my thoughts exactly the features are mad ill especially for some park jam action, you have the potential for some sick cipher action but the design is lacking of the things that make boom "boxes" dope

Actually i like em. They are orientated to special group of people which will use the features, not just using it like a boombox. And hell yea - Pioneer  . They are leader in the DJ gear and now want to conquer the streets too. Not bad idea.

Us old skoolers are not the one's there aiming it at :-/

breakers and dancers of the new school - who want there version of our old school boxes - so this is where they have tried to fill it

they don't look to bad - solo, looks like a twin deck mini - duo, looks like it should have been bigger and more like a 9494 style - the crew looks good with style and looks cool

will be intresting to see how they actaully turn out in real like and if the hold up in looks and build quality when in the hand :hmmm:

price ? well lets wait till they turn up on ebay spelt wrong or for a good grab buy it now price

cheers B :breakdance:

"Steez" is New York Hip-Hop slang for style. ;-)

I love me some iPod boomers, and the crew looks great.

40W total is fine, and with all the nice dance stuff as well.

Will wait for a street price though.

i quite like the Duo. Looks like some kind of futuristic energy cell from a .jp video game.

Do they have docks/holders for iPods? Seems to be odd that it's not a selling point of the specs...

They all have docks, it mentions them on the product sheet, you can also just make it out on the photo of the solo. The other two models have a sealed dock (behind a door). The specs for iPod & USB are also under the misc section on the product page.
