New (Old Stock) Sanyo Boomboxes. Unused, Pristine Condition.

Hi everyone,

I’m new to the forum — greetings from Nairobi, Kenya !

I’ve recently come across something I think this community might appreciate. Through a warehouse connection, I’ve gained access to about ten brand-new Sanyo MW-8012 boombox units, all in their original boxes (opened), complete with manuals and inserts. These are unused, untouched, and in flawless condition, as if they were made last week.

I kept one for myself — and it plays beautifully. Everything works: dual cassette, AM/FM/SW, rich mono speaker, solid build. The others are identical, carefully stored and sealed for decades.

I’ve seen how rare these are online, but pricing is all over the place — and there’s little info on boxed units like this. So I wanted to ask the pros here:

  • Have you come across this model before in similar condition?
  • What would be a fair price for a brand-new MW-8012?
  • Would any collectors here be interested if I listed one or two?

I’m not looking to spam or dump inventory — just genuinely curious what the collector value of this unit might be today, especially from people who really know and appreciate this era of gear.

I'll attach some photos below. Happy to hear your thoughts, and thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum. I will share my personal impressions.
This model is low-end and was produced in the 90s.
Serious collectors are not interested in such models, even if they are new in the box.
Here are a few ads to give you an idea of what is interesting to collectors:

SANYO M-X820K

SANYO M-X920K

SANYO M-X960K

Here is your Sanyo MW-8012, selling for $53:

SANYO MW 8012

If you use this price as a starting point, you can try to sell them for about $60 new in the box.
And you will be lucky if you manage to sell them for that price.
Post a few ads on eBay and try. All the best and have a nice day.

You are in Kenya. It is doubtful that anyone here will be interested in one. The shipping costs alone almost certainly exceeds it's value, not to mention buying from a brand new member from a far far away place has always been a risky venture. I suggest you just sell them in Africa.
