This one is a cracker. Quality sound from two way speakers and the famous 3ohm white drivers!

The closest models I have to this are the RX-C36 and the RX-C41 which sit either side of yours in the range. Whilst the RX-C36 is rather a basic and simple box with a sound quality to suit, the RX-C41 is far superior in build & sound quality so I would guess your RX-C39 would fit somewhere in between the two and still sound fantastic through headphones. IN UK I have only ever seen the RX-C39 in black and it has little visual appeal to me but your silver model looks like the Crown Jewels by comparison.

The key to these smaller boxes sounding good is the graphic equalizer. Being able to pull down the mids makes all the difference.

IMHO, the best sounding (best bass) C series box is the C45 which incidently is smaller than the C39 but is 1.6 kilos heavier!

The C39 is a bit down of power (12 watts RMS v 15 watts RMS) but should still sound good when compared with smaller 1 piece units.

Congrats,

James.... :-)

I have to agree with all you say as I also have the RX-C45 model. There is little difference between the RX-C41 and the RX-C45 although the RX-C41 is (unnecessarily IMHO) a little larger, has a Line In/CD facility along with a single Mic socket. The RX-C45 has a direction change facility on the deck with a DIN/Phono choice on the Selector switch along with separate L&R Mic sockets.

The Australian version of the C45 has an proper RCA line in but no phono pre-amp.

The USA version RX c-45 has line-in and phono preamp with a ground screw.

These small Panasonic compos are wicked little bastards. I love them.
