Heyya,

As the title states, I'm wondering what the sound quality of the RX-A5 is like? Anyone have 1 in good shape?

Cheers,

Patron has one and he told me that the top two speakers on each side are fake! :w00t: :bang:

So instead of the apparent ten speaker system, it's actually a six speaker system.

Having said that, Norm's RX-A5 was still the best sounding box at Melly's meet! You can read all about it here.

Go!

I have one, and it's just as loud as the A2 / 6400, and has the same amount of power, but it doesn't have much bass. The speakers are wound too tight like a snare drum.....it's not as warm as the A2. Still a bangin' system though, with killer looks. Oh, and it's the inner two on each side that are passive radiators (true damped passives by the way, with voice coils stitched into the cones, unlike the un-damped pseudo-passive on the Aiwa CS880).

So it's got a total of 6 active speakers and 4 passive. Not sure why they bothered making it that complicated.....They should have kept the A2's setup..... but I guess they were going for looks.

Yep, looks are important and it kills the A2 in that dept any day of the week. Bass is not loose/low like the A2, rather it's a "tight" bass. Actually, just how I like it. But then again, get an A2 and an A5 and you'll have your cake & eat it too.

That would be the simple way to fix that problem if they weren't so pricey (ouch!)

These are amazing units! Almost more of a public address system than a boombox.
Still Rockin'
