Today, I think I FINALLY decided on a name for my M90: Beefcake!

Part of the reason why is that his chrome was COVERED in flower stickers. Another part is how RICH his sound is.

I named my Discolite, Princess.
Two of my M70s are Blood and Guts.

I think Rick named his lovely pink M90 Tiara.

Have you EVER named ANY of your boomboxes? If so, what did you name them?

If not, WHY NOT???

My daughter named my Sharp GF9191 as 'Bob' and hes been known as that ever since, not quite sure why hes called that and none of my other boxes have names but even I call him Bob

Must be a Sharp thing, Simon. My GF-555 - the one that's been with me since prehistoric times - is called Pat, after the famous Mullet wearing bush tucker-gobbling DJ from the 1980s.

The Hacker RPC1 is called Jim because I used to enjoy "Yes Prime Minister" on the TV. Come to think of it every one of my Hacker sets is named after him, from the tiniest am-only Ranger portable to the SP80. It saves thinking of something original for each of the 30+ that feature in my collection.

My JVC PC11 is named Steve, after the late Steve Jobs. How so? Because when I first took that set's receiver section apart to address its initially poor sensitivity on FM, I found a couple of these inside:

- so Heather (Sis-in-law beast) suggested that I should plant them as she needed a new mp3 player at the time and bless her, she figured that we could grow her one.

Ha ha at least the names you give them have a reason and logic, as well as some wit, behind them :)

I think mine was probably called Bob because we both like the way Blackadder used to say it :)

Trouble is that my sister has just brought in two more 9191's so there are now three Bobs!

Gotya...I was being a bit thick there lol :)
I think your answer was fine because the topic was 3 Bobs, which I thought was rather funny. The nerd topic just showed up out of nowhere.

Anyway, I have never named a boombox, but it is an interesting topic. There are also factory-made nicknames, like blockbuster, and bom-beat. Not sure if JVC named any of their models as well.

I'd love to be clever enough to have thought of that angle  , but it was actually the apple seeds that led to my naming the box after the late Mr Jobs. I'm shallow as a spoon and proud of it! :w00t:

I should name more of my radios. Most of the time I just call them their model number, like 'The S90'. But the ones I bought off someone I always still call them after their original owners, like 'Bill's Conion' or 'Ira's M90', which is not much use to anyone who doesn't know these people, but thats my usual naming as a radio's previous history is just as important to me as my time with it.

I do hate to be pedantic, well, actually I love being pedantic, but its the Taira custom M90, not Tiara.
It's named Taira, once again, due to it's previous owners; Henry Tai and Ira. Hence, Taira.

My new custom has a rockin name though! But that's still under wraps!

Rock On.
