Nice wee thing, it's an AKA of a box sold in the UK on the Decca brand which was made by Tatung in South East Asia. They were unusual here in that many of these generic boxes were sold uniquely through the club books - such as Great Universal - back in the day, but Decca's once proud name could also be found on retail versions in shops.

Look at it this way Reli, the size isn't much bigger and actually could be smaller than many monos. If you only turn up the volume on "one-side", then you can save energy and make it last TWICE as long on batteries!
