Since there's been some interest shown in some of my old brochures, I thought I would start up a thread for them here and cram it full of scanned brochures. I was pretty nuts about this stuff as a kid, and I would grab any and every free audio brochure I could. There's some rare stuff in the collection, like my Cerwin-Vega Series 2000 brochure, but I figured you'd all be most interested in the boombox stuff.

I'll add more to this thread as I find time to run the scanner.

First up, let's get the Hitachi stuff done. My collection of Hitachi boombox brochures is pretty sparse after 1991 or so, but most of what I do have encompasses much of the 3D years.

I'm not done yet today. Folks, I give you the 3D75:

I wanted this one so bad I bolted similar looking side speakers to the detachable speakers of my Pulser CC4000, making it entirely too heavy.

Heh - I can't decide what I like better, the 3D80 or 3D75. I guess I'll just have to go find both. Or, go with the 3D75 and the 3D88, which I also have in a brochure yet to be scanned.

More from the stockpile of dealer brochures and then I go to bed.

That's it for the dealer brochures. Slowly but surely getting to the bigger and newer Hitachi stuff.

I'm leaving this one incomplete, because I've already covered the 3D75 and 3D80. The first two pages of this brochure are one giant area featuring both models, and I don't feel like combining two pages with this scanner today.

The very cool TRK-CW3:

All I have time for right now.

Very cool Mr Wolf, I'm enjoying these very much.

Can I put in a request for the TRK 9100?

If you have it of course.

Thanks.

No problem - lots more where this came from, so the scanner will be pretty busy yet :-D

I was pretty hardcore about filling out those reader service cards back in the 80's. I don't think there was a single issue of Stereo Review I got where I didn't make use of those cards, and I had a long subscription.

Thanks Wolf that's great stuff.

One of my local Goodwill stores has had one of those Hitachi TRK-W550's on the shelf for about two weeks, it's missing several slider caps and the volume and power switches are so bad it won't do anything but make harsh scratching sounds. I've been very tempted to snag it anyway but missing parts always make me a little apprehensive.

For me, I think the 550 would have to be in flawless shape to get me to take it... there's just not enough different about it to really interest me. Most of my Hitachi cravings are for the big one piece models.

:agree: with you Wolf, I'm a one piece fan over the 3 piece boxes by far but I do pick up some 3-piece boxes every now and then when they are $10 at the thrifts. The fact that that 550 is not complete or fully functional has kept me from snagging it but I'm surprised it's still on the shelf after a few weeks.

Yeah... if it's like $10 and in decent shape it might as well come home with me, but if it looks like it's going to be too much work why give up valuable space?

I think I'm probably done with 3 piece units for a while after the Toshiba I bought. Next one will have to have something like double auto reverse full logic tape decks and a digital tuner for me to get interested. All bets are off if I see one with a spectrum analyzer or one of the big Sonys from the 80's come up. There's a little Panasonic 3 piece unit a classmate had in elementary school I want too, just because he put a live frog in the tape deck once.

Going on my last two Hitachi brochures now. Well, there's a third but it's all repeated stuff.

First up, my 3D brochure. Had to split some of the pages to make them readable.
