MW and LW issues on GF 767

Hi All

Just got my lovely GF767 and its perfect.... except....

FM - Fine.
SW - Fine.
LW - V Quiet.
MW - Nothing ?????


Its been cleaned and serviced, and this is the only issue, wondered if anyone has any ideas ???

You may not have any shortwave in your area. Maybe to difficult for bbx tuner to pick up

Could be that the SW is not picking anything, but the MW should get at least radio 5 for example ..

My guess is either a failed AM local oscillator, mixer (converter) stage or AM detector. And if you don' t know what these are, then the repair is probably beyond your abilities.

Make sure that the band selector is properly cleaned and verify that all the fine wires of the ferrite loop antenna are intact and connected (not broken). If the problem persists, you'll need professional help as it's not a DIYer repair.

Isn't LW just marine band? If so it's pretty much useless. Don't know why they even put in on boomboxes, unless they just wanted to pat themselves on the back for adding another feature.

As for MW, I didn't know you Brits even used that. Here we call it AM, and it's still very popular. (among the 60+ set, or people who want to listen to New World Order conspiracy theories).

Thats true.

BBC Radio 5 Live is AM only..... Its the football channel for the UK, so live matches are broadcast.

Possible solution is to find a cheap DAB radio and run that through the line in. Better reception and quality - (but less coverage).
