I want to know which boxes need more than ten batteries, there don't seem to be many. I figure there must be more boxes with a TV that need 12. This is what I could find.

Sharp CT-6001 TV boombox
Pioneer Disco Robo
TDK 3-speaker
Sony FH7 (EBP-78 battery/amp add-on)
Crown SZ-8801? The label says "12x15V" but 15V is 10 batteries

There was this gem for sale locally on ebay. Owner claimed the M90's were built in a way to purposely modify them to hold 12 batteries instead of 10. Told me he took it to JVC dealer and they modified it for him back in the 80's.

The TDK already weighs 27 lbs without batteries. You won't see me putting batteries in it lol.

it's a shame as the Tdk should of had more power using 12 d's but it's not that loud but still a great sounding box....i must have the only tdk thats only been used twice in it's life

if you put batteries in you must remember to take them out as the tdk eats them regardless of being on or off

Wow, so awesome. I had forgotten all about that one. What's the difference between those 2 meters?

One on the left does tuner signal strength and battery/power, one on the right does left and right channel levels.
I absolutely adore the double V look of the indicators, wish more boxes had that.

Close!

8 D's, 8 AAA's (4 for the removable tape and 4 for the removable tuner) and 1 AA for the clock.

That removable tuner is pimp. People would go wild over that. So much more unique than a regular walkman.

It's an EXPO E-7900, I'm yet to see another one reported online, but there's got to be a few about; possibly under other brand names too.

Thanks, Bro!!!! This is the first time I see a solid contender to the Telefunken beast... Thanks for the tip, and, once again: WOW!!!!!!

What is the reason behind those “splash-guards” for the tweeters: coming onto this hobby from the “hi-end” side where there is a constant bickering about the speaker grilles being On or Off, I just have to ask. For the dispersion?
