holy crapolli what a start to the new year and finish to 09.

as some of you know i had a sick pet at the end of 09 that passed aways two weeks before christmas.
that was a real hit not only to the family unit here but to the pocket book.
now the three other furred fiends here have all fallen ill at the same time.
what happened was we decided to rescue another pet .
after being assured by the humane society he was healthy and all good to go with his shots and such it turned out that was not the case.
so now there if four sick cats here they will pull through by the looks of things but one of them is so sick he is on morphine for the pain.
what pisses me off was asking the people at the humane society if the marks on the new cat were a infection of somesort.
oh no they told me it was just cat acne.

bull crap turned out to be something else that spread to every other cat and made them all sick. the symptoms for there illnesses manifested in different ways in each of them.
needless to say this has now ballooned into many thousands of dollars in bills and wave of stress throughout the house.
just crazy . by the looks of things tho they have all rounded the corner and should be back to full operational condition soon.
one of the cats is pretty old and i was unsure if he was going to make it. i mean he is really well used and takes a while to warm up as it is but he is pretty tough at the same time.
its only money and for me i am not the kind of person how does not honor his commitment to his animals.
still tho its frustratful because its been such a expensive month.

having pets is expensive.
in fact the vet i have is a pretty cheap one in comparison to the other ones in the area.
i am lucky enough to be able to afford the bills. none the less i would rather be spending the money on something else, but what needs to be done needs to be done.

Is pet insurance available in Canada? A friend of mine has it here for his Rottweiler and the dog recently needed knee surgery. It saved him quite a bit.

i did the pet insurance thing a few years back and it was at a time where we had a lot of pets.
so in the end it worked out to be about the less money to just pay up when we had too.
vets can be honest or dishonest. its pretty hard to find good one.
i remember one vet i had was a total con artist.
i even remember him having a computer program that he would hit enter on the keyboard as the price of treatment just kept adding up.
the biggest vet scam are the vets that keep your pet overnight when they do not have too.
sometimes this is necessary but in the case of a vet who has no overnight staff really its a complete rip off.
i mean that is probably the easiest way to tell how honest your vet is.
asking them right off the bat how much it costs to keep the pet overnight and who will be watching that pet.

they tend to not like that question too much.

hands down the best vet i ever had was a guy who had been a md in iran.
he was super efficient and really really kind.
i asked him once if he still wanted to be a md here.
he just laughed and said there was no other job he could make as much money as from doing what he was doing and not be breaking the law.
