Out of interest I wondered if anyone knew which boombox models had internal rechargeable batteries from the 1980s and 1990s. I read of one unit that apparently had an internal lead acid battery but can't remember the model , could anyone enlighten me on models?

Thanks Dave

Do you have the battery pack with it? Does the pack just sit loose or does it clip onto the system in some way? Does it have RCA in and out?

Anyone know of any other models that have internal or external battery packs?

I don't have battery pack but I'm sure it clips some way to box  There is phono and line in

Thread revival!! :angelic:

I have the GE too. At work now, so I can't tell you the model number. Average tuner...certainly not a GE Superadio. Sounds good, not very loud. The bass and treble controls are not very aggressive (bass warms up the sound a bit, treble adds a little upper midrange). Solid, heavy duty, cassette player (typ. GE of the time).

The original GE NiCds were, of course, shot. There were four of them rated at 1.2Ah. I replaced them with 1.3Ah Panasonic NiCds. The radio will play for 10-12 hours on a charge at full volume; about 6 hours with the cassette playing.

I came to the conclusion that this was an average, but good looking, radio that helped the GE battery division sell more NiCds.

Hope this helps. :-)

I have a GE Mono box with internal sub-c Ni-Cads as well as a normal battery compartment for D Cells.

I like this. Monos with bass & treble controls & any other cool toys appeal to me for some reason...

At the time there was a battery pack for the Telefunken Hifi Studio 1(M)
I've never seen it but I'd love(!) to have one.
