Well, I'm sick to my stomach! My wife returned home, and said "Oh! I gotta tell You something - and You're gonna be pissed." She proceeded to tell Me that while shopping at a local Goodwill store, she was approached by some Goodwill staff (friends) that work in the Donations/Receiving area. She said her friends couldn't wait to show her a their cell phone pic of a radio they received as a donation earlier. They inspected it, priced it at $25, then place it out front for sale.

My wife looked at the picture, and immediately recognized it as a Conion/Clairtone. I pointed to My Clairtone 7980 and said, "Was it like that one?". She said, "YES!". They told her it sold within 20 minutes after placing it out on the shelf. And, that "It sounded so sweet". Of course, those workers already know that I'm a huge Boombox fan, and always on the hunt for them. They are not allowed to have their cell phones on them to text My wife whenever they receive one. Nor, can they hold it for anyone (like Me).

I had a long talk with My wife on a way to get them to secretly message her of any that come through so I can run over, knock people down, and get it. I am so pissed on missing out on a $25 Conion. What the hell do these Hippies, and homeless Bastards need with a big old Blaster Anyway? Dang!! :annoyed:

dang! so harsh when they still tell you about it. sometimes better not knowing.
its the same with the recycle shop here i found my $25 Big Ben at. i asked if they could let me know if anything comes in, even said id pay double for the good 1s. but nope "sorry we not allowed to do that" although i do have my name/number at a couple other places. had 1 call from the closest to me. got a Philips sound machine, sony cfs230 and a RX-C34 for $5 so not bad for 1 call.

Wow, that's one hell of a dumb Goodwill shop, for 3 reasons:
1) Pricing it at only $25 without doing some simple research.
2) Not listing it on Ebay like most Goodwill shops are doing nowadays.
1) Treating their employees like children, not allowing them to carry phones. Talk about demeaning.

Ouch, that's gotta hurt. :bang:

If ever I heard any hints of The Bargain Of The Year, I'd have my elbows sharpened before dawn. :-D

Don't worry Adam, you can't be too upset seeing that you already have one.. :-)
But I want TWO! Hahaha! Honestly, I would've cleaned it up and sold it here for only a fair price among the family. eBay gets enough $$ from sellers. g1392854909775055094.png

No worries Adam.

This story will comfort you.

Reminds me on how I missed a like new RX5350 on Ebay and the lady called me and asked if I can pay $275 when she put it for $200 starting bid. I was so stupid to offer $250. She said she will call me back.

Sure enough she called me back and said it was sold for $800. She contacted the bidder and he offered $800.

I couldn't sleep for many days. If I ever said OKAY as an answer I would have had it.

It's stories like these that I focus on the positive and not the negative..
That grails can still be found at thrift stores for a few bucks!..and not that TheFuzz profiles the types of people who shop at goodwill..

The big one that got away. Darn :bang: :bang: :bang:

The Goodwills around me do their research, I rarely see a "steal" sitting on the shelves, and the stuff that's there is generally overpriced.

Profiling.. That's funny. You learn to study people, their intentions, and behaviors. Like the old saying, "There are no victims, just different degrees of Suspects." :-D
