Very cool and interesting box!

I use Metz Flash system for both my Nikon and Canon DSLRs! I had no idea they ever put their brand on Boomboxes! I wonder if that was a Metz made boombox, or Metz design, made in Japan or Korea?

What does the label say on it?

Und ist der Klang gut? :stereo:

You are my new boombox hero. What an amazing stamina at bringing out drop-dead killer boomboxes day after day. :jawdrop: :jawdrop:   :hooray:

And I thought New Zealand/Australia is where its at! :w00t:

its known as an amstrad in the uk-always wanted one, nice one jens-hope it sounds as good as it looks
Yeah, I looked at that and my first thought was that - apart from some Triumph and Spinney models that were Sugar boxes rebranded specifically for sale through club books such as Great Universal or Littlewoods' - I'd never seen a Sir Alan AKA.
It's commonly enough found dead in landfill in the UK but this different brand makes this example that bit more special. I would!

i love that radio , one of the best designs for a 3 piece box ! looks like it's well built too.

well built
If these AKAs were outsourced then there's every chance that its build is right up there with Thorn (Ultra, Marconiphone, Ferguson) and similar other UK brands, but if it was built on the same lines and by the same people then Sugar's UK factories' QC was right down there with BL's at the time so it could be a "Friday afternoon" job. Fingers crossed this one was built on a Wednesday though.
A good one can make great sound with really good bass from its full range, single speakers and PC-5 lookie-likey reflex port grilles.
