The average temperature nationwide, even INCLUDING Ira's toasty 80 degree FL weather is only 15 degrees. I have had so many plastic pieces (not boomboxes) just snap from handling. For example, while unloading a computer LCD monitor (not heavy) from the back of my pickemup truck, the white plastic carry handle just crumbled to bits when I went to lift it up, much like a frozen liquid metal terminator hit by a RPG would. In these frigid temperatures, plastic is sooo very brittle they are likely to shatter with regular handling, not to mention impact of any kind.
So when thinking about ordering any new boombox playthings, (or shipping one), you might want to think about waiting for these polar vortex type of weather phenoms to pass and the weather warms up a bit first. Otherwise, your tears will be falling faster than a china 777 can be unpacked (or the amount of time it takes an airborne fedex package to land). Just keep in mind that these 18 wheeler haulers do not have heated trailers. If it's -15 degrees on the West to East route through WY, you can bet that your boombox is also -15 degrees. Just a thought.
