Came in yesterday. Little more to it than I saw in photos. Seller did not disclose the few things that kinda piss me off. Minor yes, but should have been listed in the listing. 6 screws missing from tweeter plates and deck door. I over looked seeing them in the photos. 1 speaker wire latch clip is broken off (may just remove both doors and wire tie them. Needs a good cleaning and deoxit spraying. stereo play makes only left speaker play while mono plays both. Speakers and tuner play well. This thing does have power and will clean up likely. Here is a few vids. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1utayhfzGI

Nice score ! Will check to see if I have any old Decks kicking around for the screw on the door at least. I imagine they are the same as the home decks, looks it.

Very kind. Worse case I can always replace them with something different, even re-tap with a larger if need be.

Great looking Marantz!

The channel issue could be as a result of many causes. I'm thinking maybe a switch issue if the seller can be believed that the sound from that channel comes and goes. It doesn't sound like an amplifer issue if the sound is there but only at times.

Sorry man, I think I cleared out my last Marantz cassettes earlier this year in a massive purge of lower end decks and such. Had to do it, I had way too many projects, though I will be peeling parts from some of the others makes (and keeping an eye out) in case of a situation such as this! .

R these them? Seem reasonable enough to me!
Not 100% sure, but pretty sure not. Those are very course threads and a heavier bolt for holding their 70's receiver and amp face plates on. I do have a 1250 that needs a couple tho.

Had I known about this Marantz box I would have never tossed those decks without checking here 1st for matching parts. :bang: That unit looks exactly like the SR 4000 I have and that era's (early 80's) decks styling.

So. Took the item to tech. Got the VU meter unstuck. But not receiving signal to work. The selector, I hoped was a simple deoxit fix. Tech believes it may be cracked, which is why I have to keep flickering it to contact both channels. So this turns out to be a donkey kick to the bag. Here is another selector, to give you an idea of the horrid it would be to replace it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Marantz-2215B-Receiver-Part-Selector-Control-Switch-/191689302597?hash=item2ca192a245 looks like I may have a parts unit. fark!!selector 1.JPG

It's all doable if you have the patience. I would never write off a box because of one switch fault. Getting a replacement part will be the hard bit though. :-(

Good luck,

James..... :-)

I was thinking perhaps a similar marantz selector would work. Considering maybe even putting a multi toggle switch in the back of the box to operate. Or just hold it on the top shelf until switch swap. Or sell it as mint. Lol

Riker,

Came across another Marantz deck (SD4000) today and although this looks a tad different than the pic you posted, here is what I got. The shaft dia is exacty 1/8" on the threads and just a hair over on the shaft barrel.

Sorry for fuzzy shot tho, taken at shop, crappy light.
