Hey y'all - that was a bit of swahili in my topic.
Mambo = "things"
Vipi = "how are"
I live in Arusha, Tanzania. yeah - East Africa. And I've just bought a Clairtone 7890 boombox. I have someone bringing the monster in a packed box to me when they come to visit from Montreal Canada in the next month.
Can't wait.
I've been wanting a real boombox since I was a kid wathcing the bigger kids at the school in 1984 or so bring their rolled up linoleum and boomboxes out to breakdance.
My parents let me use a beat up panasonic thing but never had the punch.
So here I am so many years later, getting one. finally.
I'm hoping that it takes the place of my sound dock portable bose (which actually sounds really sweet). But in order to replace, I'll need to do some work on making it portable.
I'm thinking I'll rubber band together a bunch of cell phone lion batteries together and rig it up with a charger so its powered like the sounddock bose unit - ready to detach and go!
Thats about enough of that.
I sometimes wonder how many other Conion AKAs there may be in East Africa - my guess is not many.
Over.
