Magnavox D8443 Question

OK, I know these aren't big performers, but they are cool wall art.

But, recently I was looking on ePay and in a sellers listing it says "Line In" and shows a picture of the side panel and indeed, it shows a line in, it makes no mention of "Phono" or anything like that....so what is the real deal with these? I have heard you have to have the record button pushed down? If so, is there a way to supersede this?

Is a purchase just a waste? Is it just wall art? Is there a functioning Line In? Can any volume be generated? Can Superduper somehow make all my D8443 dreams come true?

It's a line used through the record function on tape. The sound is very low so don't buy it for line in. But it's a nice looking box and the sound isn't to bad on tape and radio

Just sold mine. More for looks. That's why when I was looking for boomer as teen I chose my CEC over the Maggy

I agree. I've had two and kept one nice one. The line in is as much use as a chocolate fireguard. The sound is ok but nothing special. Looks fab though...wall art is a fair description!...but good wall art!

That's my actual 9494 in my avatar too...and this art gets used every day!

I was rather disappointed with my D8443 and the poor line-in. If you come across a cheap one in a thrift get it but I wouldn't pay ebay prices.
