I need help with my newly purchased lloyds pt003 bookbox. The tape deck A and B seem to be playing at chipmunk speed and I can't seem to find a way to slow her down. I did open her up and thought that the tape deck motor had a potentiometer adjustment screw but no such luck. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If the adjustment is not in back of motor through small hole then the variable Resistor might be on a board attached to deck or near where wires are for motor. It has been known for electronics to fry out in motor, then a replacement motor would be needed

First off Id like to thank the both of you ( TW5 and Baddboybill) for cracking a egg of knowledge on my newly addictive hobby.

I tried to to see what resistor might be linked up to the tape deck but with the tape playing at high speed and adjusting all the resistors i could see I got now where, but I did see that on the dubbing speed button when I pushed it the tape just shut off but if I were to play the tape in B deck and push the dub speed button is slightly slowed the tape down but not enough to make any difference. Do you guys think its my dub speed button thats stuck on high permanently.

On the back of motor there should be a small hole possibly with a rubber cover. There is an adjustment screw inside which can speed up or slow down motor. Using a very small flat head screwdriver you can adjust speed while tape is playing. If it won't adjust then the pot is bad and you will need a new motor....

Hey Guys,

Same problem, tried replacing the motor with no luck so I started messing with everything on the board and actually found the pitch adjust (at least for the top A Deck).

Here are some pictures showing the adjustment, just grab a smaller flathead and turn this cirlce pot, pretty sure it was counter-clockwise for slower and clockwise for faster but you know, just jam a tape and listen.

Hope this helps someone!
