JVC PC-V88 Subwoofer

Hello all,

I bought this machine last week and tested it, so far so good, but pressing the bass boost button doesn't give me any extra bass.

Ok, I thought, must be a loose wire in there so I'll have a butchers. So I open the machine up, get to the bass box inside, open that up and lo and behold there's no speaker in there.

Two questions then for the experts.

1. Is there supposed to be a speaker in there?

2. If so, can anyone give me the details (watts, ohms, size) so I can replace it.

There should be a speaker in that box ,usually 5 inch 6 ohm woofer.at least on the pcx series there is .

Thanks for the info mate, I'm trying to find a PDF of the service manual so I can check too. Weird thing is I couldn't see any loose cables or solder points where cables have come from, it's like any evidence of a sub being there is gone.
