...the one I have has really good original paint so I would never deface it....but I would if it were silver......
Painting an M71 that's even in just average condition probably isn't smart since you will have just wiped out the rarity of the M71 and cut it's value (possibly dramatically). An M70 is a far better box to customize, they are far more common than the M71.
