JVC 656 Tape Weird Tape Sound

radio works fine, Tape plays, but emits this repetitive noise that i have zipped and attached

The same noise happens when i hit RR or FF on the buttons. Sounds like something out of Blade

let me know what someone thinks.

Actually I think it might be the flywheel rubbing inside the deck , I rember these being finicky about re aligning the back plate properly.

if its a fly wheel how do i fix that?

Try the Record Bar try pressing play record then stop about a dozen times in a row and see if that helps.

did that. i can faintly hear the sound from the tape player but still hear the noise. Sorry about the Cat mine did the same thing

Pretty sure that is a grounding problem on your cassette deck. Most likley coming from some type of bad connection that will be hard to identify

I had that same problem on mine with my rc 656. I took the boombox appart down to taking out the cassette chassis and did a bit of basic cleaning. I then tried to find the bad connection, but i could NOT find out exactly what was wrong, but when i put the cassete deck back together the problem Magically stopped and never came back.
