Hi,I just belted my 3rd. Boombox within the last week as I bought belts
for 4 boomboxes.
This was my Sharp GF-9696Z!
Well it all went well until I noticed The Dreaded capstan tube had turned to
goo!
Well I still had some tubing I got from Bill and after about 25-30 q-tips
and an ounce of isopropyl I got it working!!
Let me tell this is a sucky tedious job as anyone here will tell you.

Well it was worth it,playing pretty good, just a slight warble which seems
to be getting better and is hardly noticeable at all now.
This wasn't all,I had to replace the idler tire also and the pulley on the
capstan which had broken In half! :-O
Lucky for me I have the extra deck from my 9494 parts box so after replacing
both of these parts it's playing quite nicely!! :-)
Just have to adjust tape motor speed and azimuth, doing this Thursday!!
I need a day off!! :-O :-D

I also installed 2 new antennas to so it's truly almost there!!! Love the
9696!!!!

Now later this weekend it's the last one-the 9494H.
BTW-where can I get a idler tire for my 9494? Same as the 9696
deck, just need one if these as I already re-tubed the capstan on my
9494.
Man I think I'm almost boomboxed out!!! :-P :w00t:
I need a break! :-)

Hobby shops should have it. Some of the gasoline line tubes used for RC cars and planes should fit for this use. The tube should slip in and stay firm on the axle and the outer diameter should be the right size to slip inside also.

Hey Royce, does it fit nice without binding or bunching up?
I'd like to purchase just a few inches if possible as I'm out of the
silicone tube.
Let me know if this is possible.
Thanks. :-)

Hi Jeff,

It is perfect fit.

I am well organized but for some reason I misplaced this tube.

I would have send you that tube for free. I looked all around and couldn't find it. I will keep on looking. After 9696 work was done I left it somewhere I cannot track it now bro.

Be patient... let me see if I can find it.

Very very cool Royce!! I also love reading your re-tube thread as it gives
:-) exact measurement and this tube will work better than what I've been using!!
PM sent buddy!! :-D

One last question, where can I get an idler tire for my 9494?
Does studio sound where I get my belts have them for this?
I'm ready to belt my 9494H-the final and 4th.one for now! :-)
Just curious.
Thanks again!!
