Storms, lightning, tornados, and all kinds of fun stuff to watch. Here are some shots I got of a storm that opened up right over our tiny city and went 1 mile north and 1 mile south dumping TONS of rain. We didn't get a drop, but I did get some kick ass pictures.

That's COOL STUFF!

You know what's weird? We've lived VERY NEAR the Puget Sound since 2001. We have wind, rain, and rain, and rain, but no thunder and lightning. I think it has to do with static electricity and a journey over land causing the drama.

It's been SO LONG since I've heard thunder and seen lightning. I'm tired of the rain, though.

Can anyone help me find a place in the sun near the water with not much snow, but not too hot? HELP!

Those are great pictures, Joe! I'm guessing you were using a tripod. Did you have the shutter on 'bulb' or were you just using that fast trigger finger? :-)

With my Nikon D40 I just have it set to auto focus, no flash, set the delay timer, held down the tripod (it was windy as hell), hit the button, camera exposure was about 5-8 seconds. I didn't adjust any settings on the camera, basically a point-and-shoot with no flash and a tripod. There was so much lightning that I was just pressing the button after each picture it got done exposing to get as many shots as I could and I sifted out all the junky shots.
