This was posted in a thread on audiokarma, the OP is talking about his girlfriend being the store mgr of a thrift

"She text me a pic of a classic Conion C-100F boombox awhile back and before I could get back to her the store crushed it because the radio wouldn't power up." crimes against classic boomers :annoyed: . Couldn't they sell it cheap, at at least get something for it and keep it in circulation.

Had I not rescued my Conion, it would now be property of Waste Management. What's up with chucking Conions? The family I got it from thought it was weird that I even wanted it. :hmmm:

Interesting.. how did you discover they had it? Me and a friend were talking about collecting stuff, she just recently started collecting My Little Pony's & obviously I collect boomboxes..
Different people find different things interesting I guess, some people might collect Rooster figurines...?
I can see how uneducated people would throw away a boombox.. I wouldn't think twice about throwing away a VCR, just because it doesn't appeal to me & I consider it junk..(even though I still play VHS tapes)
On a side note, I hate when sellers advertise a 90's cheapo CD boombox as "Vintage" ..? Fools me into clicking on the listing..

I wasn't specifically looking for a C100. I was just looking for a cool looking 80's style Boombox and let a few friends know so they would keep their eyes open. I knew nothing about the world of collecting these things until I Googled the model number, after taking posession of mine, and started looking at EBay listings.
Then I found Boomboxery -
And it's consumed me ever since! :stereo:

I don't understand...if the OP's girlfriend is the store manager, why on earth would she have let an employee crush that box? :'-( :dunce: :dunce: :dunce: :dunce: Especially since she obviously knew it was there and texted a pic?  :annoyed: :bang:

I con not remember 100% but it goes something
Like this
In turkey the country its ilegaly to sell vintage stuff
Or its ilegaly to remove vintage stuff from the country
And to damage anything vintage or antiques
Was punishable buy 3 months jail
No questions asked straight there
Sound fare to me

reminds me slightly of the time i spotted a mint vz2000 at my local dump.....when i asked if i could buy it i was told to fook off,so argued back that they thought it was ok to trash something that could be reused rather than ruined....i was given 2 minutes before they got the police out :w00t: it got even more heated between me and the muppet worker before i bid a hasty retreat.....went back in the pm to see by chance if new staff were on and if it was still there.....it had dissapeared :-/ you can guess where it ended up
