As a collector of things other than boomboxes I have seen prices for obscure items that make this pale in comparison...so I would say no, this price is not too high. To find a 777 with box and all accessories is quite rare. Any collector not restrained by a budget would grab this without a second thought. I understand most of us here are on a budget of some sort so this price may seem stunning but if I were living in the UK I would snag it, I am just not willing to gamble on someone elses packing skills to make it to the US.

I think its too high. This is because when i buy somthing im buying it to use it, so paying 3/4 times more than i need to just for a box is not something i will do.
On the other hand if you collect stuff and keep things boxed up for purely collecting purposes, then well i dont know :hmmm: , ive seen some really nice 777s in full working order sell for loads less but ive NEVER seen one with a box, so i guess it could be priceless to some.

...just so there is no confusion, I use everything I collect (if your not going to use it whats the point) the uniqueness of having all these components justifies the price, but that is just my opinion... :-D

It's a NIB BIN! ;-) Wish I could afford it, but don't have a spare USD$1288 lying around. If I did, I'd buy it in a heartbeat and pay to have it properly crated for shipping.

Doesn't DecentMan4You have a 777 in a box in his crazy video‽

By that line of reasoning, the brand new $70k Corvette isn't worth it, since I never drive more than 70mph and a used beat up $1500 toyoter coroller will do the job. ;-)

I see both points. But for me collecting a boobmboxes its not to have a stack of cash. Its to have some budget (even the budget its not constant tough  ) and to hunt for blasters witch are not goin to (ot will  ) break the budget. Its nothing wrong to be rich tough . Spending plenty of cash on any bbox out there is just crazy shopping and some owning mania tough. But this one for 800 bucks can be considered (IMO) as a good buy in this condition if its locally for pick up and without big cash for shipping and postage thriller  .

Yeah, I'd be on that too, but the truth is, I'd just F it all up usin' it! Just like the 777 I have now! :-P

The Toyoter and Corvette are not even the same thing, the camparison was between two 777's not a 777 and an egg. A better example would maybe be a brand new $70k Corvette and a really good condition used Corvette costing about a third of the price but looking and performing just as well. I would have the used car as it does the job i want it for.

If you use any item you collect or not, it doesnt mean your a better or worse person, i didnt mean to sound like i had the moral high ground. Its all about choice and what makes you happy. :-)

I'd still wrap the new Corvette around a tree! Just like I would with the old Corvette!

Alan, you opined that the price was too high, and you supported that statement by saying that paying 3/4 X's higher than you need to is something that doesn't work for you. But that did not answer the OP's question.

The OP asked if the 777 was too high priced, not whether it is right for your own needs or would you buy it at that price. Based upon what I've seen, it probably IS worth it due to the very rare documentation, carton, inserts, etc. These simply aren't available. So while I would not buy it specifically for the reason that I don't like paying exhorbitant premiums for something that would remain inside a box since philisophically, I see no difference between collecting such boxes and stamps or coins; nevertheless, I do believe that it IS worth that much to someone who wants an exceptional 777 with all the window dressings which might otherwise not be available at any price.
