I bought a clairtone 7980 shipped from Canada for under $300 around 2006. Mind you it wasn't the prettiest it was still a bargain even back then

Most collectors here already have one in their collection (if it's a model they were interested in), so it's unlikely any of us have been in the market lately for another one. So asking a question like this is not much use since most were in the market ages ago (see all the comments, many quoting prices form 2 decades ago), and being that market price is time sensitive, all I can say is willing buyer/willing seller. If you are willing to fork out the money, go for it. If not, you can keep looking but if you can't find a better deal, for same condition, then it's safe to say it was a good deal.
