I am working on another one of esteemed member redbenjoe's Holy Grails.
He left it with me the day of the sunshine mix and I am slowly making some progress.
I am re-doing some amateur repairs that were done to the front and rear casing including broken posts.
I will also be fixing the loose cassette doors.
will be painting the body.
Also re-whitening the speakers.
Cleaning all the chrome bits and polishing all the clear plexi parts.
So far Radio is completely dis assembled , cleaned, sanded.
I also started all the body work and repairs to the casing.
I am using two part epoxy and JB weld to fix the cracks in the case and broken posts.
Here are some progress pics.
Oh and BTW Ira I have taken some pics of the date code.
Your 1000 was born in 1982 Just incase you want to throw it a birthday party some day.. :-P

Looking forward to watching the progress on this one
I'd be keen to know of a suitable paint match when you spray the case.
i've a couple of gf's that need a spray :-)

I got this info from a post at S2G years ago:

Model Master 1790 or Tamiya X-11

I'm going to use a dull aluminum on the case.
Unfortunate not much can be done about the chrome control panel
Short of having it reproduced as a sticker of some sort.
I do although plan on a light wet sand and a coat of clear over that area.
One of the pieces for the tape door post was in the radio so I simply super glued
It back in place. I am going to have to fabricate something for the center two posts
