I'm sure you're all aware from the saturation media coverage that July 20 is International Boombox Day!

It just ticked over the the 20th here in .au and to celebrate I've done a special mixtape that'll become an annual affair, with any luck. The Stereo Sonic Electro Rockin Mixtape 2014 is available for your delectation on soundcloud here:

Just tore open a fresh TDK D90 (Normal). Recording onto the C-100, which BTW, I think makes great tapes when used in Manual recording mode.
Risky as it is, the Conion is going for a little outing tomorrow. Every blaster gets it's day in the sun.
Thanks for the mix, Glue!

Happy Boombox day all!

Hitting the park with my 9 year old son today (already a boombox collector, dubious taste however :-) ) to play some frisbee, eat some picnic food and blast some quality electro. Heaven!

I spent an enjoyable afternoon in my garden watching the airshow (I live near an airport).
Inbetween the noise from the jets I was blasting my little Bombeat 135 :-D

Wow! Vulcan! My Dad used to work on those when he was doing his National Service up in Lossiemouth - by Inverness - back in the dark ages. But the darned things caused him loss of hearing in his right ear at a really young age as he would have to crawl inside with test equipment to do calibration work with the engines running. The RAF didn't provide any form of ear protection in those days and I'm not sure whether that's why he always gets really emotional when he sees the sole remaining airworthy Vulcan on the TV these days, or whether that's because he loves the old kite really.
I'm betting that thing was a little louder than the sweet little Tosh though.

I had a great IBBD.

This morning I worked on cleaning and re-tuning the LOUDER BLASTER for the up coming West Coast Meet in August.

I looked over a few more radio's that I haven't fired up in a while.

Then I dug out my Fisher 3pc and started working on a model project.

The ol' Revell clear V8 engine model. I got it a few weeks back at an estate sale for $5.00 (a $79.99 value! :-D )

I spent from 11am till 8pm building it to this point...

The instructions said to let the glue in the heads dry over night, or that sucker would have been done!

I had some Uriah Heep going today as well as a 1959 collection of songs...Through the Fisher.

All in all, it was a good day!
