Import costs?

Hello chaps

I've just won my personal grail on flea-bay a Philips D8644.
Now this is the first time I've bought from overseas - just wondering if there will be any hidden import/customs costs when it gets to me in the UK?

Box will be coming from Austria. Hope its not a daft question

Hi mate. Austria is inside the EU so you should be ok.

Import VAT (20% in UK) is only for purchases outside the EU, you pay on the cost of the item PLUS shipping costs.
That's a rough guide.

I just hope it gets to me in one piece - these are heavy-ish but filmsy boxes with wooden [chipboard] speakers.
I've asked him to double box it - so fingers crossed.

Yep, inside EU so no problems.
