First box, a one owner M70, excellent cosmetic condition, only needing a couple new amplifier transistors. After weeks of ebay watching I actually found this posted on my local craigslist, and while it wasnt exactly a deal, I'm more than happy with the price paid (including repair) while I bump my decade old "wake-up show" cassettes.

Looking forward to participating in this community and now thinking of things to sell so I can purchase my next box!

Quick question: my tape deck is working and I'm enjoying the analog sound, but what do I need to do in terms of maintenance? belts seem good for the time being, so anything besides cleaning the heads?

Thanks in advance!

Congrats on a cool first box  One of the best out there. For best results you should do a complete restore cleaning inside of unit and deck. Also lube deck points and clean, demagnetize heads for superior sound

Thanks for the welcome! Will post pics soon, in the meantime, one channel seems to be off in tape mode only. Any suggestions?

I actually wasn't planning on collecting, I just wanted to find one nice box to pass on to my son someday, but now that I have one, I find myself looking for a second!

@THAFUZZ , I'm out in the bay area, CA.

Sounds familiar...
A few years back, I was looking for one box.
Like I said, that was a few years back.

That is a CLEAN and priceless M70. :jawdrop:

One channel not working on tape could be as simple as a record switch or tape/radio/line in/ phono function switch cleaning.

Try this.
Move that tape/line in/radio/phono switch couple of times and bring it back to tape. You should hear from both channels.

Don't be in a hurry to fix it all! Relax. If there is a member living in your area who knows how to work on M70 that would be the best choice.

Treasure that M70. It is so hard to find one in that clean condition.
