looking at what i have collected in the last year.. i just dont get it.. i seriously was done collecting.. but man.. i found some real doozies.. and just couldnt ignore not grabbin them.. got some rare puppies in here too..
first one..
Panasonic RX-FD75
not cheap by any means back in 1988..
when i got it i was super giddy.. as this is one i have always wanted when i seen it in my 1988 J & R music world.. so i started tearing it down to clean.. and i was like WTF?? the guy i bought it from replaced the panasonic speakers with Sony speakers in a half assed manner.. the original panasonic speakers surrounds were made of foam and they must have rotted.. so instead of refoaming them he crammed, literally, the Sony speakers in there.. so i removed them and thought perhaps at some point i can find replacements.. but these are proprietary 5 inch woofers.. so it sat in my closet for months.. i thought i'd never hear the sweet sweet sound this boombox should produce.. so a month ago i seen an auction for a Panasonic RX-DS30.. i was like hmmm.. those speakers look like they might fit.. and even if they dont, the DS30 is an excellent boombox in it's own right.. so when i got it.. BINGO! the speakers are an exact fit! but i didnt want to use them and have the DS30 just sitting there without speakers either.. so luckily there was a Panasonic RX-DS20 on Ebay.. didnt mind using those speakers, as the DS30 has more features.. and the DS20 will be used as a parts box for the DS30.. so i got it yesterday and installed them in the FD75.. man what an excellently biult boombox.. with the new speakers (cloth surround thank god!) the RX-FD75 came to life once more! CD/Cassette decks work! man it feels so good to see it up and running.. what an awesome feeling!
here's some pics!
a little rough around the edges.. but still in good shape.. also works with most Panasonic remotes from that era..
more boomboxes incoming!
