No company has done as great a job at making both great quality Boomboxes,
and light weight Cheapys as Sanyo.
Or have they...?

Cheers OSS :afro:

Agree with the elder statesman. The closest that come to this are Sharp (they had their share) and Panasonic. :-)

I love the sound signature of the Sanyo's boomboxes. I only have 3...M-X920, M9994k, and a C7. All are top quality boxes with beautiful sound. My Sanyo's are my favorite when listening to jazz or other instrumental tracks. I love the simulated 3D aspect of the wide setting, especially on the 920. The 920 is one of the nicest looking boomboxes as well. All class... :-D

:agree: Never had a C7, but I can vouch for the other two. I would deffo add an M-9998 to that esteemed list of great sanyo boxes.

 ...and I love my 9902 also...there, I said it...

Sanyos have good build quality, and the best knobs & switches. But I don't like their tuners. I have a 9994, 9998, and 920, and none of them lock onto stations as well as a good Panasonic or JVC.

I don't have as much experience as you guys with Sanyo's, but what I have have, I ain't selling.

I agree on the range. They had stuff at the top and the bottom all at the same time!

I've heard that the Sanyo tuners don't age as well as some other brands. I know a couple of my Sanyos' tuners are dead.
My M9990K is an exception though as it's tuner is excellent and holds distant FM stereo stations better than the very good tuner in my Panasonic RX-DT680.

I agree with you on the tuner. My 9994 and 920 tuners aren't nearly as strong as my Panny's or JVC's.

Love the Sanyo's but they build them like tanks
and are quite difficult to re-belt(some of them)!

The AM is weak or not working on one of my 9998's
but I still think there's still a dirty switch.
I have the 9935K,9970,9990,9994(2),9998(2).
yes they're great boxes!! Great build quality
I might add!:)

Believe it or not the M X720K had a great tuner but my Big Ben also had tough time tuning in :-(

heres a pic of what my currently only sanyo looks like, but mines in a lush bright red instead:just managed to sort the belts on it,which were a nightmare due to how much stuff is packed in there due to sanyo's exellent quality control-oh and it sounds beautiful too ;-) IMG_1061.jpg
