I have many leather-bound books and my RADIO smells of rich mahogany.

So i made a deal on this back in January.
saw a dude in Australia post it on facebook for offers. I dont usually take notice of those sort of posts but seen as it was 1 of these i thought id give it a try. in hindsight i probably offered too much but was totally willing to pay for it. no complaints, still a tiny fraction of the ebay listing. conveniently the guy lived about an hr away from some friends in Adelaide so i got him to drop off there. done deal, dropped off 4 days later.
was all ready to get it shipped but then my car decided to crap itself. skip 4 months and finally got it sent and picked up last Saturday.

cleaned up way better than i had dreamed of. but.......... unfortunately 1 channel is dead. will post in different topic for help in trying to get it back. you want it to rock again as much as I do

so here it is in all its woody glory. my M-X820

A beautiful radio Evan, lovely pickup and I'm sure it's worth every cent for the look alone.

Congratulations.

I’ve always said NZ is THE place for a Boombox collector.
Typical bloody Sanyo - my most frustrating Boombox brand - all the build and all of the flash but none of the reliability.
Still, fingers crossed it’s an easy fix. I’m sure the 820 shares amp components with other Sanyo’s if need be.

Congrats by the way - I knew is was an 820 in that pic you posted last week. :-)

My first drools on the forum! Congrats. I love this box. I've also like the Panasonic RX-7000 because of the wood sides, but this box takes the cake! For whatever reason the 7200 is a turnoff for me, with the digital clock. Call me Robbie Analog if you may.

The 820 could chill in my living room and blend in nicely. There was an M-X920 that sold for $300 shipped. It had a bad tape deck, though it looked to be a good price.

Never been a high Sanyo fan, but in the future, I'm keeping my eyes peeled for an X820 wood-grain!

Also, it looks like you live in a Mansion :jawdrop: !

Yeah this has to be one of the nicest looking yet rarest boxes of the all, stunning. This is worth fixing up for sure as they must be rare as rocking horse shiat working, well they are rare full stop. Ok im busting out 72 drool icons for this to properly covey how sexy it is.

Congratulations!
Took me years to find mine...they are among the rarest of the rare.
Mine had several issues as well, tuner string came off, right channel was cutting in and out...
Turned out to be a cracked amp board...easy fix with some jumper wires soldered in place and reinforcement on the crack.
These are relatively easy to work on once you get the chassis out. That, however, can be quite difficult. Take your time and search for that one last screw holding it in place - they are well hidden! ;)

OK, obviously I'm late to the party here....

This is a factory Wood grained 820?

All you know of this....but me??? :hmmm:

OMG that thing is GORGEOUS!

BTW, 10 extra points for displaying it on a wood table next to a wood wall   :hooray:
