Of course I found NO boomboxes in all 3 days I had off this weekend :annoyed: .

But I did find this.....

:w00t:

All original survivor 1985 GT Mach One for $50  .

This wasn't for sale at the rummage sale I stopped at but it was haning in the garage. I pointed at it and asked "how much for that" like a 7yr old boy at the candy shop!

The lady laughed and said they have had their son's bike hanging in the garage since the late 1980's! Also said it wasn't for sale until we started talking more and I was telling her how this bike should be treated. We ended up making a deal. :smooch:

OMFG. That is the 2nd bike I had growing up. The first was a black mongoose with yellow mags.

THE GOOD NEWS IS I STILL HAVE IT!!!!!!!!!!! :w00t:  I'll have to take some pictures. Loved the GT so lightweight!!! Nice score!

Funny you mentioned how light the bike is, I thought the same thing! One of the lightest BMX's I have ever owned.

Raheem buddy, some day you will stumble upon a grail BMX bike like this out in the wild. Have hope! Keep searching! Never give up!

I'm happy to own it :surf: .

That's a sweet ride, Joe. One of my old neighborhood friends used to race BMX. He went through GT, Mongoose, Redline, and Diamondback. Another kid down the road had a yellow Yamaha Moto-bike. Man, those were the days.

I'm wondering what her son will think when he finds out his bike has been sold.

Oh my goodness!! Look at the Block stem! That bike is a treasure. I'm as jealous as a certain German.. ;) though I did read an article on a German vintage BMX store a while ago. An old guy runs it. His son used to race and collect in the 80s. He passed away leaving a legacy of rare small-name high-quality stuff and a squillion complete bikes.
I've had too many of this type of bike when I was a teenager. My mum bought be one secondhand quality BMX per week for a while to keep me off (and on) the streets. I chopped and changed too many gorgeous originals when I was young and dumb.
I love your GT

Thanks buddy! I'm glad you like it. We were all young and made silly choices with things we had. At least we can see the beauty and value in items like this and share that love with the next generation.

Went to at least 10 thrift stores in old town Ventura....NOTHING

The only thing I saw was a VERY beat up Sony 3 piece....it was big, but trashed, no battery door, broken antenna, paint on everything, It was a dual cassette, cd player model, $14 :-/

Other than a few eggs...NOTHING!

Put my new grips on it, filled the tires and took it for a ride last night. Really a great bike.
