Hi everyone-Here's a good question-How many boomboxes take
more than 10 D's??
I guess I've only heard on one and that being the extremely rare
Sony FH-7- I've heard that the rare battery attachment takes 15 D's!! :-O
I think Norm (Superduper) has one.
This is a good one as all my boomers only take 10 as most grails do.

Let's see and hear about the boomers that take over 10!!

Have a great Thanksgiving week! :-)
GB. :choco: :hmmm:

Hi Holly,I find that Duracells are amazing!
With some normal occasional use they last like years unless your
outside every few days with the same boomer or use a M-90! :-O
I'd like to try some though but do they put out as much amperage as new
Duracells?
Have a great rest of the weekend! :-)

I occasionally hear people say that their old boombox used to take "like 20 D cells" or that a friend had one that did back in the day..

I don't even bother trying to contest the point anymore......... |-) :-P

Rechargeables (nicads, lith-ions, ni-mhd, etc) are 1.2V as apposed to alkaline 1.5V each...so if you use 10 of them you are only supplying the unit with 12V instead of the 15V it prefers.

Your player may work with the lesser voltage but not as efficiently or loud I suspect...

I've always wanted to wire up an adapter to one of my radios to accept one of those RC car rechargeable battery packs. I think they are C's so you could in theory blister a couple more batteries in there to supply the full voltage. It wouldn't last as long, but in that case its simple to unplug and plug it into the RC Car 15 minute quick charger... :hmmm:

Same here....people always exaggerate how many batteries these use and how inefficient they are, but either battery technology has improved IMMENSELY from the 80's or these things were always great!

I too get Monster Mileage from a set of fresh Duracell's.

I use rechargeabes 90% of the time, but if I'm going to the beach for the day...Fresh store bought D's baby!

Hi Jeff,

The FH-7 battery attachment (EBP-78) actually takes 12 D cells. Four rows of three(in tubes to keep them aligned).
