Holiday weekend craigslist FREEBIE!?!?!?!?

So we were finally home from camping yesterday and everyone was napping..... Checked craigslist for boomboxes and a fresh ad was at the top of the list for FREE electronics!


Funny how one blurry picture from 20 feet away we are still able to see what they have. "TAKE ALL" was the only catch. Speakers, 8-track players, some records, and on the top of the stack - a BOLT BOX!!!!!!


Called the person 3-4 times over the next hour and they finally called back and said they had it all! Only problem, I couldn't get there anymore that day and neither could my parents . He said he would hold it and my mom will pick it up tomorrow, which is now today, and it is in the town she lives in! . I asked that if anyone calls for any of his stuff to at least keep the boombox there for me, he said no problem :sin: .


So hopefully today my mom will make the 8 minute trip to pick this blurry bolt box up for me and bring it over on monday when she babysits . :super:

Just got off the phone with my mom and the guy that has the boombox. He said it is on the picnic table waiting and my mom said she is leaving to pick it up in about an hour!!!!!

It might be free, but it probably isn't a GEM of a box but we can always hope for the best!



My mom just sent me a text:

"We got it and you have your work cut out for you with this one. Cool looking speakers!"






Now the worry is over. Once it's in her hands I can finally stop thinking that he will change his mind. Now it will be here in 6 days

I found that ad on craigslist last night, but I could only see a corner of the bolt box in the pictures..
Figured he removed the actual picture and description from the ad, and figured you got it... I WAS RIGHT!!
First Jimmy, and now you scored a FREE Bolt box! I assumed either you or GZ got it, but I think GZ has other stuff on his mind lately...

Yeah this is the picture I saw and got excited after it said FREE!! Hopefully it doesn't take much to get going, I know it said "for parts" or sumpin..

Yeah, Jimmy with his dumpster bolt box, now this freebie bolt box, who knows what's next!?!?! I only know of less than a dozen of these bolt boxes in our collector community, I wonder how many might still be out there now 25 years since they came out .


Yeah, he said for parts because the tuner string is off track. He did tell me on the phone that the antenna are still good, the handle is good, and the battery door is on it. Like my mom said, it looks like a fixer upper box for sure - but that's ok

Getting a BOLT box is a feat in itself, but we are missing the main point here....
You are getting a Boombox for free off the internet! This guy took the time to take a picture, load the picture, type a short description and post it on craigslist...
I am going to assume 95% of the people don't think twice about throwing away junk they no longer want.... It's def cool he wanted to keep some of this stuff in circulation! Another boomer saved from the dump!
