got a hitachi trk 5280 2 days ago.when i first tried it,it powered up but couldnt get the radio on easily,it would come on intermittantly and the volume would be at full force and undefeatable,then after a few seconds just dies away 
the cassette has new belts on now but no sound (to be fair the head looks had it)basically from power up now theres nothing,except the tape turns and nothing else.....ive tried copious ammounts of switch cleaner in all the areas,but no difference!anyone have any ideas or solutions please?i only bought it cos it was cheap,as ive stopped collecting now,but would love to get it going again

the power supply seems good-as the tape turns so power is getting to it ok 
but i fear it is a worn out volume pot or the function switch has gone-and finding parts for one of these will be difficult to say the least
