I would appreciate one of you learned members enlightening me about these batteries.
I am familar with Ni-Cads and zapping them etc. but heres my problem....

The battery pak reads well over 14 Volts but almost no Amps. and wont charge
in the fancy charger that does the flashing red/green thing telling me the battery is bad.
I have 3 of these doing this now....I hate when this happens and I have rebuilt ni-cad pks but its a royal pain.
The damn things run at best $45 or more...I hate spending the money on new ones and then they only last a year or two.

Maybe kittmaster or one of you guys can help me out on this. I'm sure we all have had these battery paks on our
cordless tools go out.....

ANYBODY?

thats strange because the makita is one of the best brands around iv'e used the 14.4 volt set with the rapid charger and never had and problems ,actually the charger sings when the battery is charged it sounds like a cell phone ring tone lol quite annoying at times :annoyed: ,it might be a bad charger but like i said i never ever had problems with the 14.4 ni cad battery pack or the tools .

so ed if you install the battery pack to the drill it goes dead?? i imagine sounds like a bad charger to me, but the batteries do go bad over time but should last a long time unless you use it a lot ,, i have a dewalt 18v drill i rarely use it but when i plug in the battery it still has juice after almost more than a year i think the last time i used it was when we had those hurricanes :w00t: :w00t: and its been with me for about 7 years and both packs when you charge them can give you a good time of work before needing a charge,, ed i used to have a makita drill with the flashlight it was a very good drill compared to alot of stuff that we see nowadays but one of the things i did not like was the battery , it had the one that looked like the rc battery packs, it really did not last that long so i got rid of it ,, they came out with some better models and finaly i found the battery pack after i had given it away :-/
