Help Identifying Late 70s Panasonic RX-1540 Knockoff

Like many before me, trying to ID the much-beloved childhood box that I left on all night, every night, and faithfully recorded all 3 hours of Casey Kasem on .99 cent-for-three Certron 60s -- every Sunday.

Should be around a 79 or 80 model, the closest I can find is the Panasonic RX-1540.
However, mine was grey and I cannot find any Panasonic around that model or era that isn't silver.

Attached pic of the RX-1540, you can also see that the tuning knob on mine was higher and the counter is centered to the cassette window.

Sorry the picture sucks. Sure would be cool to figure out what I had (and maybe get another one....)

Wow, you got it! Mystery for many years. It was indeed the JC Penney.
