Hello there everyone. Just bought myself a nice Unisef SZ500 from Ebay for £87, which I thought was a bit of a bargain.



Works just fine, a few niggles such as some crackly pots (Volume.) and the tape door doesn't open when the eject button is pressed. I think it may be missing a spring. Needs cleaning up inside as it's full of grease and fluff and stuff.
Have bought a couple of new speakers for it too..
Love the forum, I can see I'll be spending a lot of time on here.

What kind of speakers are you planning on putting in place of the old ones, are they the same impedance?

Some cheap ones I found in a shop we have here called Maplin. Yeah, they're the same impedance.

It seems to all be working just fine, except the tape deck not opening. I've taken it apart and everything looks ok. The eject button makes the catch release, but it's not springing open?
Can you tell me if it's supposed to have some kind of spring? Mine has nothing like that.
