Damn, our health insurance premiums at work went up by 90% - we're with Cigna. They said to thank the new Health Care law for that. I'm pissed

I think you need to move to Canada for that :-/

Or Australia.

from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medicare_%28Australia%29

For out-of-hospital treatment, i.e. treatment provided to a person who is not an admitted patient of a hospital, Medicare pays 100% of the MBS fee for general practitioner consultations and 85% of the MBS fee for specialist consultations. A practitioner may choose bulk billing, and charge only the relevant percentage of the MBS fee and thus making the service free to the patient. Doctors are not forced to bulk-bill and have discretion in charging their patients. The law prevents private health insurance funds from providing any coverage for the remainder of the charge after the Medicare benefit has been paid.

Well, they're one step closer to getting that awful mess repealed.

Hopefully, you'll get your money back when it's officially dead, Vladi. However, being Cigna, they'll probably have some excuse like, "Oh, we need to keep charging that extra money as a service fee for going back to the original plan."

Join any branch of the military and you'll be set for life ;-)

After my dad got back from Iraq he is now 50%-70% disabled? (tank track blew off one tank and snapped his wrist, lost most of his hearing, his knees are pretty bad now from all the junping etc. and he has ptsd and anxiety attacks on the daily basis, got gird? from breathing in chemicals. can't put a price on that. :'-( Now he drinks 6-9 beers a day. and he wasn't like that before :nonono:

but now he gets about $800 in vet benefits pay for the rest of his life. And he gets a koosh civil service job for $37.80 an hour. I guess he earned it lol. but he still trains soldiers etc. in ordnance and armor.

I'd join but I had a heart murmur and after seeing what it did to my dad I really don't think I could join

You realize that the healthcare plan is to tax us for 10 years before they started covering anything. And then you have to buy it or face fines and eventually jail. And this will be enforced by the IRS. I swear if this pile of steaming crap is not reversed I am going to have to find a way to live off the grid.

Glad to see you back, Chris. How did that whole Arby's episode end up?

Hey fatdog, it ended well. I called and emailed about 13 times to get a reply and the fourteenth I called telling them my attorney (actually had one lined up too!) and he was going to file suit. They cut a check the next day for all the damages/bills. so I am glad to have that monkey off of my back. $486.72 was the best number I have ever seen :'-(
I still have the burn marks from the wires on my arms, it looks like somebody took a counterfeit pen and wrote a 3 inch number 12 on it.get asked about it alot and now I wear it as a sign of pride (because I survived 220 volts, and thank god that the breaker popped)
Glad it is all over.
I should be back on here more now that I am losing hours in my current job.

And thanks for the christmas card Bobby!!! :super:
Really uplifting in the xmas season!

Chris, sorry to hear about your dad.
I wouldn't survive in the military one day. Maybe if I was 20.......but not now - when somebody tries to tell what to do - I usually respond with *up yours* or something similar - I don't think that would fly in the army

Yeah, the healthcare law is just a terrible idea from my point of view - since my premiums almost doubled - now I'm paying for myself - and for one other person too. WTF!

Sorry to hear about your Dad! I'm glad we live in a country where we can help our vets out..they deserve every bit of respect for keeping our country safe.

As for health insurance, if the repeal fails, and it will, there are still 20+ states going to court over it.

The Health care bill was not about Free health care, or even health care, that line was only for the public. They needed more taxes coming in to support the other programs before they went insolvent. :dunce: politicans.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, there are 27 states fighting it in court. That means over 1/2 of the USA is fighting it. THAT says it all.

As for your last statement Phil, it's sooo true. It does do what it says it will do, by insuring 30 million more people and reducing the deficit. But what the people doesn't realize is that it accomplishes this by forcing everyone to buy healthcare. So while the cost to the government is reduced, the actual cost to the people is astronomically higher. PLUS it has caused healthcare to go UP in cost -- the exact opposite of what it said it will do. So before, if you are struggling and need to decide whether to pay for either your mortgage or buy health care (you can't afford both) -- at least you had a choice. Now, you don't have this choice, meaning forget the house payment. You are REQUIRED to buy health care. No choice needed.

Massachussetts is where it all started, back in the early or late 90's I remember seeing a news report where residents from that part of the country were in dismay about how the law was being handled in obtaining healthcare back then. This news fell under the radar nobody didn't seem to follow through it was talked about on that segment and it never aired again. I was amazed in the interviews some were saying "I'll just pay the fine" or "I can't afford this because I don't get paid enough to cover it including all my other bills". This has to be looked at very carefully because if not the consequences can be bad for people. Most Americans will just opt out and then what build more jails.

They knew about this before it passed. It was brought up but then brushed aside by the proponents. They won't build anymore jails since the enforcer is the IRS. They don't need you in jail because they already have their hands in your pocketbook. Think not paying is really an option? They can even garner your wages faster than you can say "pay-check".
