Hey Ira how well do you know skillphil? He listed so many boxes on ebay over the years that I'm curious where he picked up his boxes.

this one might be a multi-post --as we are involved in a tight usc/ohio state game :yes

about 4 years ago --
when gas was cheaper -- but good boxes were a bit more expensive 
i had been buying some nice $$ boxes from skill --
he had not bought any of mine YET-
i hadnt met him -but we became friends via phone-
i knew he collected big pannys --but assumed he already had
doubles of every good model --
as with most of us --friends are more important than boxes -
so i surely would not have ever bid againt him on any box--
anyway --a NICE (not mint //at all) black panny 7700 pops up on ebay
in some WRONG category -- yipeeeeeeeeee
has a low starting bid of 300 -- and NOBODY noticed it -
a TRUE SLEEPER -- right ??

back then --ebay had no codes --so we all knew who won what.

along comes murphys law --
only me and skill saw this listing - and we both had about the exact same RISKY plan....
within the last 10 seconds -- i bid 610 -
he bids 600

anyway --getting trapped in an $$ 'over-bid'
happens to even the slickest of us slick collectors --
so-- that NOT the story
the story is that FIVE minutes after i accidentally screwed phil out of what
turned out to be his dream box !!
he calls me --- :'-( :'-( :'-(
not at all mad --just devasteated -- YIKES
in the meantime --i am equally devastated --cuz i expected to win the
7700 for only 300 bucks-
but - suddenly --murphy jumps on MY side --
phil WANTS to buy the box from me---
says the 600 plus freight is "NO PROBLEM"

well wheres the funny part ???
----well ---a week later --when the box arrives --
its just OK
--but not 1/2 as shiny and nice as i had hoped for-

(i called him the next day)
me -----"phil - i CANT do this --you NEED to come over here
and see it // judge it for yourself "
phil -----"thats all the way across the state" !!

me ---- " phil -its only a few hundred miles --
you can see cows and farms along the way "
phil ---- " dunno --that a long way for boombox"
me --- " ok - heres the deal --you come over --
you get the box for less $ -- you save freight money-
i pay for the lunch -- 4 beers and a chick"
phil ---" are you near miami "
me --- " not exactly --
how about 3 beers and 2 chicks "
phil --- " listen , ira i CANT come over your house "
me --- " WHY NOT ????"
phil--- " i dont even know where you live"
