I was wondering what boxes you all think make great for parties, but based on an overall of these four factors:

1. Sound
2, Looks
3. Least likely to be destroyed be drunken bafoons.
4. Wouldn't be a big deal if it was damaged a little.

The third and fourth I consider very important for parties, I know some of you are say... a little older, more "mature," ;-) ;-) . But the people at the parties I go to, are a little more careless, and probably think of a boombox is a dimestore pickup.

Now for me, I only have the three choices, my 1st & 2nd Gen 931's, and my M70, which I'm almost done with.

Now I know the 931 is a looker, sounds pretty good, but can be pretty fragile, and hard to find one that's not already got problems....

Where my M70, which I'm finally testing, sounds great, looks clean, and seems built a lot better, but quite a bit more spendy to replace.

What of yours or any boxes would you choose?

take a look at the Ihome Ip4.. don't let the size fool you.. this little monster can dish out some serious sound.. and there quite cheap.. the blue version can be had new for $70-90 bucks on the Bay.. and it has a cool look to it as well..

Oh I'm not buying anymore... for now, I'm cut off still I get a bigger place. I'm just curious what others like to use.

But yea I've seen those online, they look interesting. I wondered if they sounded any good.

Will be a boomblaster/kaboom , or even best the 4 speakered JVC backpack boomer - it is shock and splash proof. Some sony sports will do for smaller gatherings too.....

I've used my Lasonic I931's many times at gatherings, a Wedding and even my 30 year reunion. It's a loud box and can be controlled up to 30 feet away which is real nice

My C-100 has served me well at a few gatherings. But, due to it's condition and value, it's only suitable for the "adult" crowd.
For the "rowdy" crowd, I'll let the hosts wreck their eggs.

I actually take my M90 the most. It's got character marks all over it but it's built like a tank, had beer spilled on it (not by me), and it JAMs loud!

Also, the M70 though not a box you want to get banged up but they can take a lick'n and keep on tick'n. Sound good, get loud, and good look'n.

Otherwise, I just take something along that I'm not afraid to get a new ding or scratch. Everyone needs a sweet beater box in their collection .
