Got To Meet A Favorite Blond...

Yes!!! And she is cute in person too! I mean Laura Ingraham, the radio talk show host and permanent fixture on the Fox News Channel with Bill O'Reilly's (often being the one to fill in for him) "O'Reilly Factor.

She was very gracious and took time to speak with me and even take a photo during her book signing stop in Birmingham, Alabama at Colonial Brookwood. (Turns out I was the only "non-official" i.e. Radio Host, etc. to get a photo with her at this event! )

I of course, in my witty manner, informed her that I'd be the only black conservative in attendance...and she said "Well, we'd better get the cameras!!! This will be a historic moment and the current administration won't believe it!!! Now we have proof they do exist, and in Alabama of all places!!!" The only downside is that no other cameras were to be used at the time as this may be published. But a buddy of mine managed to get the iPhone going!!! My wife was with me and had a great time a well. (And yes I was the only one! )

My freinds at WYDE "The Source" gave me two copies of the "Obama Diaries" for her to sign. They will also be getting me much better photos than I have now. I turn 41 tommorow and have been celebrating early with my family since I have to work Monday. Laura wished me happy birthday and told me to keep doing what I'm doing. There were hundreds of people there including protesters who could not believe I was standing arm in arm with Laura Ingraham!!!

My wife was even worried some lady was going to get snippy with her about me!

A lot of people think that these conservative personalities are boorish and don't really give a crap about sheepish fans or people in general. What I have discovered is she, O'Reilly, and others on the conservative political side of the fence are far more gracious and accomodating than anyone I've met on the liberal side. It's as almost if it's a crime to not cry and whine about self inflicted plight or despair.

And I have no shame in admitting that I catch pure hell sometimes but I stand firm. Like you Norm, I am not complicit in a recession. Does that mean I'm heartless? No.

As a matter of fact, if you ask Laura, she would tell you that her heart goes out to thousands of Americans who have lost their jobs...but at this stage of the game it's time to stop waiting on the economy and get innovative. People have made millions off of animal shaped rubber bands (Silly Bands) so surely we can find a way to get innovative.

Ask her again about illegal immigration, and again (and I work in the construction industry so I know firsthand) she'll tell you, the problem is not that immigrant workers are here, it's that they are here illegally and draining the system with no taxes paid. And yes although it is time to stop blaming Bush, he was complicit as well. Nothing is being done "now" about it either and it's this Administration suing Arizona for enforcing Federal Law, not Dubbya's.

You're absolutely right, she's no dumb blond. And she is also one of the nicest people I ever met. She and her handlers could have rushed me along, but they didn't, they stopped, took time to address me, share some laughs, and a hug.

Boorish and aloof? Not. As a matter of fact she looked at me and my 6'0" frame and asked if I was a football player. (You see what I was wearing.) I told her no, I coach football and baseball for 10-11 year old fifth graders. You know what she said? "Well, God had a greater purpose for you than fame in coaching those kids."

How can you not admire that?
