Yes, I completely agree with you.
As of today, everything is working fine.
I serviced some boomboxes a few years ago and I'm sure they'll work for at least another 5-6 years.
But there are some bomboxes that I haven't serviced since I bought them and they're working fine for now.
I don't know how soon I'll have to pay attention to them...
Every single one of my radios have been apart except the ION Retro Glow. I seem to always find a reason to open them up. All of my radios were rescues. It kept the cost down. If it's a mechanical issue, I can usually resolve. If it's a complex circuit issue, that is my weakness and I tend to steer away from boxes requiring board component replacements :-)

Last week the weather was nice and I took a walk in the park.
As I was walking past a bench, I noticed something red left on it.
As I got closer, I saw this radio. I didn't understand who had left it or why.
It seemed to be in very good condition, the only thing missing was its 18650 rechargeable battery.
When I got home, I put a battery in, charged it, and it worked.
So now it's part of my collection - JOC H1822UR-BT (picture from internet):
